W1 – Professor at University of Koblenz Landau (former)
I am a German National – originally from Pakistan presently holds the managerial position at German Wear GmbH. Alongside my managerial role, I have an extensive academic background, having served as a plant scientist and W1 – Professor at the University of Koblenz-Landau, Germany. I achieved my PhD (Dr. rer. nat.) with Magna cum Laude in 2018, specializing in ‘Plant Molecular Physiology and Genetics’ at the University of Cologne, Germany, supported by an independent DAAD fellowship (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst). My doctoral research focused on the ‘Functional characterization of E2-conjugase like protein PHO2 (phosphate2) in phosphate starvation and mycorrhizal symbiosis in Lotus japonicus’. Furthermore, my academic expertise extends to being an examiner for evaluating PhD thesis and a recognized reviewer for several scientific journals.
In addition to this, my achievements include receiving the Talent Award 2021 from POAF (Pakistan Overseas Alliance Forum) Germany. I attained my M. Sc. (Honors) in ‘Soil Science’ from the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Pakistan, and earned distinctions such as the All Pakistan Agrarian Talent Award 2011. My undergraduate studies at the University College of Agriculture, University of Sargodha, Pakistan, were equally distinguished, culminating in a B. Sc. (Honors) with a Gold medal distinction, along with various awards from Fauji Foundation and Shaheen Foundation.
Throughout my academic journey, I showcased remarkable talent and received recognition, including the College Talent Award 2006. Notably, beyond my academic achievements, I was an accomplished orator during my university tenure.
I extended my influence globally as I represented Pakistan at various international forums in Europe and Africa. Notable engagements include speaking at conferences, such as addressing ‘Women inequality and Child labor in Pakistan’ at Justus Liebig University Giessen, Germany, and participating in symposiums like Excellent Women in Science 2017 in Cologne, Germany. My international involvement also extends to representing Pakistan on social issues in Benin, West Africa.
I have been actively engaged in public outreach and academic endeavors. I successfully received training in career coaching and mentoring from Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic. Additionally, I was a Senior Vice President of the ‘Soil and Environmental Sciences Student Society’ (SESSS) of Pakistan in 2011.
Amid the challenges posed by COVID-19, I actively participated in virtual activities during Pakistan’s hosting of World Environment Day in 2021. I played a crucial role as an Evaluator in Poster and Video competition regarding World Environment Day at MNS-University of Agriculture, Multan/Pakistan.
My dedication is evident through my philanthropic gestures. I contributed generously to various funds, including donations to the ‘Prime Minister and Chief Justice of Pakistan Fund for Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand Dam’ and the ‘Prime Minister COVID-19 Pandemic Relief Fund 2020’.
